Tinting Policy
HD Brows® Tinting Policy Update
As a responsible user and retailer of tinting products, we regularly consult with our manufacturers to ensure that our training and treatments adhere to their guidelines. This is to protect the safety of our customers.
Our manufacturer has recently updated their guidelines of use for the HD Brows Brow Dyes, these changes include avoiding use of our Brow Dyes on certain groups of people:
- Clients under 16 years of age
- Pregnant or breastfeeding clients
As a company, with the best interests of our customers at the top of our agenda, we have therefore updated our tinting policy to match that of our manufacturers, ensuring the safe practice of our treatments.
In effect from the 2nd May 2017, our tinting policy is that clients under the age of 16, and clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not be tinted as part of the HD Brows® treatment. All other parts of the HD Brows treatment can be completed, we just advise to skip the tinting stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m currently pregnant/ breastfeeding/ under 16 years old, does this mean I can no longer have HD Brows treatments?
You can still have HD Brows treatments but you will not be tinting during your treatments.
I am pregnant/ breastfeeding/ under 16 but I still really want the tint, can I still have the tint if I sign some sort of consent form?
No, your HD Brows Stylist is a trained professional and they are obligated to adhere to manufacturer’s guidelines, they cannot go against them even with consent from the customer. Remember this is for your safety. Ask your Stylist to teach you how to use the Brow Colourfix to recreate that freshly tinted look at home, without the risk.
Do I still have to do a patch test?
No, although this is usually a mandatory step for HD Brows, you do not have do a patch test if you’re not being tinted.
Will I receive a discount for my treatments since I’m not being tinted?
Remember that the cost of your treatment reflects the time and skills of your Stylist, as well as the products used, and they are likely to still take the same amount of time to complete your treatment, as they will need to spend more time finishing your brows than usual while they recreate that freshly tinted look using the HD Brows Brow Make Up alone. As such, there is no need for them to reduce their pricing in this situation, however it is at the discretion of the Stylist to make this decision.
Can I just go to another Stylist for HD Brows?
All certified HD Brows Stylists will be aware of this update and are obligated to follow this policy from the 2nd May 2017. If your Stylist is not following this update, double check on our salon finder to ensure they’re actually trained and certified to offer HD Brows®. In the end, this update is for your safety and following it even at the risk of losing clients just proves how much your Stylist cares for your wellbeing – loyal clients should respect that.
Does this affect the other tinting treatments I go in for?
We have been advised that similar guidelines are in place amongst most tints and dyes in the market, however, this policy is only for HD Brows treatments. Please check with your Stylist regarding the other tint and dye services that they offer.
Will this update apply forever?
We are continuously working on improving our services and products. If this policy or our tint products change in the future, we will update everyone promptly.
How has this update been communicated?
We have announced these updates to all of our HD Brows Account Holders and added this policy to the footer of our website for the next 12 months. Additionally, our training literature and support materials for the HD Brows treatment (such as Client Record Cards) have been updated to reflect these updates.
